RightMarch December 6, 2012ALERT: In case you haven’t heard the news, conservative hero Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) has announced that he is retiring in January, in order to take the helm of the conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation.
This means that the Governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, will have the opportunity to appoint Sen. DeMint’s replacement in the U.S. Senate.
The problem is, there’s a good chance that she’ll appoint someone who is NOT a conservative to that Senate seat!
WE MUST NOT LET THAT HAPPEN!
There are several good potential candidates whom she could choose — but we believe there is only ONE who holds nearly the same strong, Constitutional conservative values as Sen. DeMint holds:
S.C. State Senator TOM DAVIS.
Tom Davis is known as the LEADING fiscal conservative in S.C. state government, and is regularly referred to as a “Tea Party Champion”. He is a strict Constitutionalist, and has shown a willingness to butt heads with the “establishment” GOP when they aren’t voting according to conservative principles.
